A place where all Art is appreciated,
respected and most importantly; a place where everyone is open and enthusiastic about their love for all forms of artistic expression
I can't thank you all enough for supporting me in my recent request --which I'm sure may have sounded more formal than it needed to-- to help me by voting for my submission into the Your Big Break New Zealand Competition:
www.your-big-break.com/entry/1…

I submitted my entry on the January, 12th and it already has close to 400 views! and I am very grateful because I know a lot of the support has come from this loving and enthusiastic community; as well as additional support from my friends on facebook and twitter. :D

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this journal and for those whom have review (and voted for) my entry.

I found it quite amusing when I finished and I realized that my characters are reflections of myself; their needs, wants (such as the desire to see the world) and emotions. :emo:

I do not have anything published, this would quite literally be "my big break" but I do have outlines and drafts of numerous ideas that I refer to as my work. I am a freshman at Western Connecticut State University.
I was accepted to a private school in D.C. and was offered a sizable financial package but I turned it down in hopes that I would find a program that would help me in my aspiration to become and succeed as a screenwriter and although I have not found something specific at WCSU I have been enjoying my time there and have been saving, researching and planning on transferring to a school that has a specific screen writing program such as; Tisch School of the Arts

My deepest thanks for this opportunity and the support you have so lovingly given.
Graciously yours,
Marina Coddaire

Dear deviantART Members,
I would first like to thank you for contributing to this community, a place where all Art is appreciated, respected and most importantly; a place where everyone is open and enthusiastic about their love for all forms of artistic expression. I bring to you today information regarding a contest.
This contest closes on 1/15 (this Friday!) however, it is still worth it for those whom may have a short script lying around that could apply to the contest. In addition to adding awareness to this contest I would like for all of those who have known and have entered this contest to post the link to their entry and that the dA community get together to send at least one dA member to win stage 1 on the competition.

www.your-big-break.com

Even if you are not going to enter a script you can register which will allow you to vote for entries you like and by doing so you enter yourself into a chance to win a trip to New Zealand!

Overview of the competition.
An entrant needs to submit a script for a short film, one with a time limit of three minutes (including credits)
and they are allowed to upload a short video or image that they would want to use to bring their idea to life.
The entries will be viewed by Academy Award Winners, 4/5 of the Stage 1 finalist will be chosen by those people and 1/5 by the general public vote.

The 5 winners of stage 1 will be flown to New Zealand to make their short.
They are the writer and director; a crew, talent and equiptment will be made availible as well as a
NZ$100,000 budget. They will have a week for pre-production, two days to shoot and one week for post-production. They are given the advantage to use Peter Jackson's post production eqiptment... Peter Jackson is also the man who will watch the five finished shorts and choose one stage 2 winner.

The stage two winner's short will be aired on u.s. national television sometime in march.
All travel expenses are apart of the prize.

Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely yours,
Marina Coddaire

p.s. you can view all rules and terms on the website along with all other specifications for the contest.
please leave your entry links as a comment so that the community can support your submission!

2010

2010

Ahhh 2010 (pronounced twenty ten) you seem so new, so fresh.
Would you like to be friends?
Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not going to ask that you do all the work, I of course am responsible for my own happiness I would of course appreciate some good possibilities and hopefully I’ll take advantage of them.
Some of my thoughts for the new year:

Let’s start with a cliché,
I’ve already changed my “way of life” if you will, I eat differently, I work differently, I sleep differently (as to suggest more than before) and all is pretty well, none the less I would like to list Getting Healthier on my new year list, just because it will be good to have another reminder…

Develop a more solid schedule.
My schedule is very flexible and that will change naturally when spring semester starts but I will only have class on Tuesday and Thursday which leaves a lot of time for procrastination (something everyone struggles with to some degree, I so happen to be blessed/cursed with a high probability. I digress; I intend to find a way to keep to a tight schedule for everything from getting ready to travel to class/study/work time to free time.

Read
It is not funny (well then again) how many books that I own, that I have yet to read. Quite a few I’m sure will turn out to be favorites.
I will have to fit them into my schedule lol.

Write my first complete script.
Oh yes, I intended on getting together with a friend over her break but we both seem to have forgotten but no matter for I have plenty of potential plots and sufficiently developed characters to last me a while. But it is very important to me to complete a script, preferably two versions of the same story: a pilot for a television series and a full feature.

Write my first COMPLETE short story/novel
There are some things that need to start as a book before it can become or be successful as a movie, although, perhaps I would keep this story as a book…

Enter and place in a Photography Contest
To be honest I don’t want to nor do I expect to win the contest I just want to take the chance. (thus I’m not mentioning what contest this is lest any of you amazing artists decide to give it a try to muhahaha)

Collect more of the Andrew Lang Fairy Books
I’ve started to collect old books and by old I mean books published before 1900 (although some of the Andrew Lang books were first published in the 1900’s) sadly these books are not only expensive, but, hard to find. I currently have the first of the series The Blue Fairy Book.

Keep in touch with my close Friends
Now that I’m in college I no longer attend the same school as many of my close friends. It is very important to me that our friendship remain strong. No matter what. I will use all forms of communication from snail mail to skype. It pains me to think of the day where I will most likely have to move out to CA where I doubt any of the people I know live (save my fifth cousin Dan whom I’ve met once) It will be difficult.

Save
I’m sure you all know what I mean by save.
Save the Money
Over the last month and a half I have spent way too much, sadly I can not say that It was mostly on other people lol. The only good thing is that I won’t have to buy any more clothes for a long time. –I’m excited to save and see my bank account grow, I will need it for when I move.
Technically I should only have to spend an average of $30 per week between gas and some food (depending if I get something at school or if I wait to go home etc)

Learn something new everyday
I love to learn, no matter what it’s about. It’s inspiring when I get to share something I’ve learned with someone else and it is fun to incorporate new information into something like my writing or a conversation (if that new noun is a new word) and thanks to dictionary.com, worknik.com or historychannel.com that won’t be difficult.

---best for last---

L’Amour
I’d like to met someone and develop a relationship, I see people who are “twiterpated” and I would like to experience that (although I’m not exactly one for mushyness, clichés or PDA) and it’s obvious that relationships are uplifting and inspiring and I most certainly want that in 2010.

Winter 2009

5 min read
2009 in general has been very interesting.
Interesting as to say, many things have occurred and those occurrences have been both positive and negative; most of which specifically described as "changes"

I have not posted a journal since before I started my first semester of college and as I just found myself finishing that first semester I saw it fitting that I once again access the effort (however minimal) to right another entry as I no longer really keep a physical one.

My first semester was and was not what I thought it would be because I don't exactly know what I was expecting but it came out to be easier than I thought - probably a bad thing. :giggle:
and at the same time I am disappointed that some things were not presented with more seriousness etc because that allowed me to not be entirely focused or challenged. I am however, extremly excited for spring semester.
(I took three classes this past semester, one of which I did not get credit for [math 098] and it was essential that I earn at least a 2.0 or a C in each lass lest I not be fully addmitted into the university. Nor can I fully register for spring until my final grades are submitted [due tomorrow and still not posted!] I feel as though I will most likely earn the following A+ in Writing, B in Nonverbal Communication and a C in 098 sadly I fear about my Math grade if I should not be able to continue my education based on a grade I earned in a class I wouldn't get credit for... I am currently at loss to express my thoughts with dignity and class!)
The classes that I hope to be taking are:
On Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 9:30 and ending at approx 6:30ish
HISTORY - Modern Europe: Renn to Present
ART - Appreciation and History: Renn to Present
COMM - Basic Video Production
WRT- Intro to the Creative process
WRT - Writing about Human Tragedy

It just sounds so amazing.

Wish me luck...

Celebrate

2 min read
Wake up and think about what you are thankful for; do we not find ourselves thinking about the things we wish we had? But not anymore! :boogie:

Think of every person you meet; every person you see as your best friend, someone you've known your entire life, someone you love. :cuddle:

-sometimes I'm sure that is a hard task but one we should at least attempt.
I have been inspired to love and to celebrate and it feels amazing.

I can not wait to live my life; meet my significant other, have children, make my family and then meet my passing with joy. I believe the afterlife will be beautiful.

:blowkiss:

I start my freshman year of college on the 31st and I am very excited but I feel the anxiety. I scheduled a math, a writing and a Chinese culture class in the evenings but I intend to change them to writing three days a week in the morning as well as adding an Italian class; switching Chinese culture to Japanese culture and leaving my math the same.
I'm looking forward to my schedule; mostly because I already have it all planned out and I enjoy and need the structure. I hope I can keep it up all the time lol.
